Nina Vakueva

'Nina is a Moscow-born artist with a lifelong passion for art, currently based in Montenegro. After graduating from Moscow Architectural University she moved onto working in comics, and has continuously honed her skills through online courses and in-person workshops. Her professional career includes collaborations with renowned companies such as Boom Studios, Marvel, DC, and Riot Games. Additionally, she is currently developing her own webcomic, «Lilith's Word». She also enjoys creating watercolour sketches during her travels.'

I’m an independent artist mainly working in comics, but also working on my own young-adult fantasy graphic novel and creating watercolour drawings of architecture, nature and people when I travel. My artistic journey is rooted in my own experiences as a young adult. I remember myself at that age and how books, animation and art helped me to navigate through the difficult times, how they inspired me to create and boosted my imagination and also served as a refuge. It is this transformative power of storytelling that I strive to put in my work, creating art that resonates with young adults, offering them moments of peace, laughter, and inspiration. In addition to my graphic novel, I am passionate about apturing the beauty of the world around me through watercolour plein air paintings. My artistic vision is not only about personal expression but also about creating a dialogue with my audience. My goal as an artist is to mix my love for storytelling with my passion for illustration, crafting narratives that inspire and connect with young adults.
