“The Angelsmonsters and Immortality in a Forever Free Moment” is both a writings and drawings at the same time, it explores the possibility of generating new vocabularies for the intangible and mutual relation to the elsewhere. Its cosmographical design is made up of finely psycho-poetical invocations meandering and converging in a sketch-like fashion of prayer for the everyday little traumas. Looking closely, it is made up of text in the form of small syncretic poems like “sense, flow, make, things, whole” or the simpler “parent’s lips”. I created the poems first in automatic freedom before rearranging them into a new macro/micro design: an immortal higher view of the still now and the forever evolving uncertainty of every present moment. Like a mandala or a prayer rug, this drawing is spiritual guidance for establishing a sacred space. The text incorporated in the drawing underscores a transition from illegibility to clarity, from dark to light. Elena Cecchinato is a multidisciplinary artist. She works across different mediums, primarily drawing, but also painting, automatic writing, print, installation, video, sound and live art. Cecchinato sees her art practice as a place of transcendence, where the different elements can surpass the border that separates them. For Elena art is a way to explore and expose the contradictions and similarities within different cultural practices, a way to find unity in the fragmentation of life. Recently her focus has been on the themes of invisibility, transformation and abstractions. Cecchinato was born in Venice, Italy. She learned Korean and Chinese painting at Korea University in Seoul before obtaining an MA in the History of Art of Africa and Asia from SOAS, University of London. Her work has been shown internationally, as well as in London at the Westbourne Studios, Area 10Ps, and The Rug Factory. The Museum of Everything has also featured Elena’s works, as part of its exhibition#2 at Tate Modern. She has shown Transpadovano at Palazzo Moroni, Padova, in Italy; Turf at Cutlog NY, USA; and has collaborated with the Roundabout.Lx Collective and the River of Thoughts Residency hosted by Olho du Boi, both in Lisbon, Portugal. Most recently she has shown her sound painting at ‘Art in the Age of Now’ an historical show in the derelict Fulham Town Hall and ‘Art Save the Queen’ @Oxo both curated by Art Below.
