Nicky Nodjoumi was born in 1942 in Kermanshah, Iran and currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. Heearned his B.A. from Tehran University of Fine Arts in Tehran, Iran and his M.F.A. from the City College ofNew York. Nodjoumi’s work has been the subject of several national and international solo exhibitionsincluding a1980 Retrospective at The Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art in Tehran, Iran; Seyhon Gallery, Aria Gallery (1976); and Homa Gallery (2005) in Tehran, Iran. Nodjoumi has shown in numerous group exhibitions including Conference of the Birds (2008), organized by Berardi & Sagharchi Projects Ltd. and Leila Taghinia Milani Heller Gallery, Flawless, London; Iran Inside Out (2009), curated by Sam Bardaouil and Till Fellrath, Chelsea Art Museum, New York, and the DePaul University Museum, Chicago, IL; and the 10th Havana Biennial (2009), Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Havana, Cuba. In 2008, Nodjoumi co-curatedArdeshir Mohassess: Art and Satire in Iran with Shirin Neshat at the Asia Society Museum, New York.Nodjoumi’s last solo exhibition, TheFormulaic Nature of Appearances (2009) at Priska C. Juschka Fine Art, New York, was accompanied by a full catalog.
